The project, launched in 2019, became the first game show in the franchise. After the success of the first season, the story of Din Djarin was continued in two more seasons. A fourth was planned, but plans changed.

The official Disney+ support account on the social network responded to a fan’s question about when the sequel to The Mandalorian will be announced:

This response confirms what many have suspected: Disney doesn't have any news about a fourth season yet. However, it is noteworthy that the company did not rule out the possibility of continuing the project.

What are the real prospects for season 4 of The Mandalorian?

Although Disney+'s response does not provide complete information, the chances of a fourth season are quite high. Series creator Jon Favreau managed to write complete scripts for the fourth season before the Writers Guild of America strike began in 2023.

We planned to film the fourth season. I've already written all the scripts. The drafts of the fourth season are still sitting on my desk.

After the strike, Lucasfilm changed plans and continued the story of Din Djarin and Grogu in a feature-length film. Contrary to the opinion of many fans, this project is not a reworking of the fourth season of the show.

These are completely different projects. Favreau confirmed that he created the film from scratch.  He said that the delayed season would have introduced Grand Admiral Thrawn and developed the New Republic storyline leading to events ofAhsoka.The goal of the film, on the other hand, was to attract viewers who had not previously watched the show on Disney+.

However, the scripts on Favreau's desk cannot simply be taken and used unchanged. Since Thrawn's storyline would continue in the second season of Ahsoka, much of that material would have to be reworked. At the same time, the results of the distribution ofThe Mandalorian and Grogushowed that Dean’s story was created for streaming, and not for cinemas. The film gathered at the global box office about $345 million with a production budget of $165 million. After this, it is likely that Dina and they will decide to return Grogu to the small screen.

According to unofficial information, which neither Disney nor Lucasfilm have commented on, the potential Darth Vader film would take place in a significant time period between the events of Episodes 3 and 4. It was during this period that Anakin, under the leadership of Emperor Palpatine, finally reincarnated as Darth Vader, hunting the Jedi.

This era has already been touched upon in projects such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Bad Batch, Maul the Shadowlord, Andor, Rebels and Rogue One. However, the only major release where Vader's story received significant development was the Kenobi series. This opens up a lot of possibilities for a potential villain movie.

The project may become the first major film Star Wars, where the main character is an antagonist.Considering the popularity of the character and the weak box office ofThe Mandalorian and Grogu, such a film seems a logical step.

However, a solo album about Vader could harm plans for the upcoming trilogy, the events of which will take place afterStar fighter. Returning to the past can blur the focus and lead to weak performance for new episodes.

The website Open Skyview is an interactive three-dimensional map of the Star Wars galaxy and a mobile application for observing the “starry sky” of fictional planets. The project was created by a fan under the nickname AurebeshFiles.

The site offers two cool modes:

• Galaxy Mode:allows you to view the entire Star Wars galaxy in 3D, rotating it, zooming in and exploring the location of more than 2,000 canonical and expanded worlds (from Tatooine and Coruscant to little-known planets).
• Sky mode:allows you to “stand” on the surface of any selected planet, select a latitude and look at its night sky. If you open the site on your smartphone, you can use it as a virtual planetarium: by rotating your phone around you, you will see the stars and neighboring planets as if you were really in the Star Wars world.

On the site you can switch the time of day on the planets and speed up the rotation of the sky to see the movement of cosmic bodies. There are filters for films: you can display only those planets that appeared in specific episodes of the movie saga. Cool Background Information: Clicking on a planet opens a card with a description and links to Wookieepedia.

Map core: The grid and regions are taken from a detailed fan project swgalaxymap.com, but the exact 3D planet offsets are generated by the authors to create a beautiful visualization.

Although the first projects under the wing of Disney brought huge profits, they caused conflicting reactions among fans. The Force Awakenswas criticized for emulatingA New Hope,The Last Jedidivided the community into two camps, and controversy surroundingThe Rise of Skywalker. There were several reasons for the mixed reaction to the trilogy. Some didn't like how the legacy of the original trilogy was treated, while others criticized the lack of a unified concept for all three films. The big takeaway from all of these problems is that the sequel trilogy could have been better. Even with Rey as the main characters.

Now, almost seven years after the release ofThe Rise of Skywalker. Sunrisethe franchise offered a better version of this story. The Ninth Jedifrom the anthology seriesStar Wars Visionsis not canon, but is set in the same historical period as the sequels. The Ninth Jedi is the best version of the Star Wars sequel trilogy

Even though the episode is not canon, it is striking how much it overlaps with the sequel trilogy. Like the sequels,The Ninth Jeditakes place in a galaxy where the Jedi disappeared many years ago. La Cara and her companions are trying to revive the Jedi Order to fight back the growing threat from Navaam, a warlord in black, samurai-like armor and clearly inspired by the image of Darth Vader (and Kylo Ren).

Almost every element ofThe Ninth Jedihas a direct counterpart in the sequel trilogy. La Cara, a young girl with the gift of the Force and trying to uncover the truth about her father's past, is Rey.Navaam, a warlord who has misinterpreted the lessons of the Jedi's past and uses them as rationale for dominating the galaxy, is the equivalent of Kylo Ren. Lah Zhima, an elderly Jedi deeply ashamed of the actions of his youth and now leading a secluded life, is an analogue of Luke Skywalker.

The project accomplished what should have been done from the very beginning in the Rey trilogy. The Jedi Order is being revived in it. At the same time, Kara’s image is more complex than Rey’s: she struggles with the influence of the dark side, tries to emotionally isolate herself from those around her, but ultimately learns to accept responsibility and leads the Jedi into the future. Nawaam gets a more rewarding ending than Ben Solo: a chance at redemption by joining the Jedi. Lah Zhima does not die immediately like Luke - he enters the battle and survives, giving way to the next generation of Jedi.

In addition to developing the characters, The Ninth Jedi does a better job with the global plot. The spin-offVisionsintroduced a new cast of heroes to move the story forward and delved deeply into the political situation in this version of the galaxy. The sequel trilogy failed to achieve any of these goals.
