The new Star Wars from the director of Logan will begin filming in 2025
Despite the cancellation of the Acolyteseries and delays in the development of the Rey film, Star Warscontinues to expand.
Lucasfilm recently hired House of Cards creator Beau Willimon to write the screenplay for James Mangold's Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi. Development seems to be going well as there is already a start date for filming.
As the publication writes World of Reel, for Mangold this is the next project after dramaPerfect Stranger. Filming should begin in the fall of 2025.
The franchise's mystery film is currently scheduled for release in December 2027. Lucasfilm and Disney have not given any announcement details; this could be Mangold's project.
In addition, according to rumors, director Shawn Levy (Deadpool and Wolverine) will direct new trilogy. The X-Menwriter is currently actively working on it.
What is Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi about?
The project is to explore the origins of the Jedi. The film takes place 25,000 years ago. Mangold himself and Willimon (he also wrote the script forAndora) are working on the project.
According to words the director, the story will not be entirely about Jedi, about the first people who felt the Force.
I want to be part of the saga, but I also don't want to have so much lore in my head. And that I really wanted to do something like the Ten Commandments of Power, you know? An origin story of sorts for how the Force came to be known, understood and used.
The next Star Wars movie - The Mandalorian and Grogu - will be released in theaters on May 22, 2026.
