Ewan McGregor told the story of Obi-Wan Kenobi, which he suggested to Dave Filoni

He is not going to give up... In an interview with Varietyat the Edinburgh International Film Festival, actor Ewan McGregor, who played Obi-Wan Kenobi spoke about a number of ideas he presented to Lucasfilm co-president and chief creative officer Dave Filoni regarding the possible return of his Star Wars character.

He explained that he told the president and chief creative officer of LucasFilm about his desire to return to the franchise, suggesting the idea that Obi-Wan could seek out Yoda between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. He even expressed hope for a love story between Obi-Wan and Hera Syndulla, played by McGregor's real-life wife, Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

It was very casual, but I said there had to be something. Because Yoda is somewhere else. After the end of Episode III, when we all go to four or five corners of the galaxy - or however many there are! - I won’t be in touch with him. But he's there. So I think there might be a story where I try to contact him.

I was very happy when Mary started working on Ahsoka. I thought maybe this is the big love story - Obi-Wan and Hera...

However, when it came to the connection between Obi-Wan and Hera, he admitted that it probably wouldn't happen, given how far apart the characters are in theStar Wars timeline. While Obi-Wan died during the events of A New Hope, Hera appears in the television series Ahsoka, which takes place many years later. At the time of writing, there is no official news about McGregor's return to the franchise.Luckily, he's very interested in the idea, saying he enjoyed working on the TV show and would be open to a whole new project in the future.

I really enjoyed filming this series... and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I love playing him - he's a really good character.
