The first trailer for Ahsoka's second season previews the epic war between Thrawn and the New Republic.

Newly appointed Lucasfilm co-president Dave Filoni attended the Disney Entertainment Showcase at this year's D23: The Ultimate Fan Expo to preview the highly anticipated second season of Ahsoka.
Ahsoka's second season, confirmed to premiere on Disney+ on January 20, will continue to follow the adventures of Ahsoka and her allies as they confront Grand Admiral Thrawn's attempts to revive the Empire and overthrow the fledgling New Republic.
Filoni was joined by series stars Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka Tano), Eman Esfandi (Ezra Bridger) and Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker) to discuss season two.
“This season is massive,” Dawson explained. “The stakes are high, the battles are bigger... and the threat from Thrawn looms over Ahsoka, her team and the entire galaxy.”

Christensen explained that Anakin will play a more prominent role in the second season. “Anakin continues to give advice to Ahsoka,” the Chosen One noted. “He challenges her and pushes her to answer the most important question in her life: are you a Jedi or not?”
Meanwhile, Esfandi spoke enthusiastically about Ezra's role in the upcoming season."Ezra has reunited with his Rebel family and now fights for the New Republic against the remnants of the Empire."
The first trailer for the second season of Ahsoka was presented at D23 and simultaneously released to the public. Watch the trailer below and read on to find out all the Easter eggs and hidden details...
The trailer begins with a voiceover from Hayden Christensen. "Tell me, Ahsoka," Anakin asks calmly. -What's bothering you?
The video begins in a snowy forest and shows a young Ahsoka Tano (played again by Ariana Greenblatt) wearing a pink and red winter jacket similar to the one she wore in Season 4 of The Clone Wars.
Ahsoka is followed into the forest by Anakin Skywalker, wearing the blue winter jacket he wore in the first season of The Clone Wars. Their interaction is a flashback to some point during the Clone Wars.
On the ground in a snowy forest lies the dead body of a clone trooper in phase one armor.

Anakin and Ahsoka then fight an enemy armed with a double-edged green lightsaber. He is human, has markings around his eyes, and appears to be proficient in the art of lightsaber combat.

“I will always be by your side,” Anakin’s ghost says to Ahsoka. Judging by the trailer, Anakin will appear both in flashbacks to the Clone Wars and as an important Force ghost guiding Ahsoka in her fight against Thrawn.
The trailer features Dathomir, the home planet of Darth Maul and Asajj Ventress, in action for the first time. The first season ended with Grand Admiral Thrawn returning to the known galaxy and settling down on Dathomir.

Thawn can be heard addressing the galaxy with a message, announcing his return.Presumably, this is done to strike fear into the hearts and minds of people accustomed to a galaxy without an Empire.
It is interesting that Thrawn declares war on the Rebel Alliance, and not on the New Republic. This is probably a relative distinction, but it is nevertheless interesting to see how the Grand Admiral does not recognize the New Republic as a full-fledged government, but continues to call it a rebel group.

The trailer confirms the return of Hamato Xyano in the second season. In the shot above, he is joined by Ezra Bridger and the updated Hera Syndulla.
The video then shows a group of New Republic soldiers confronting two terrifying Nightsisters aboard a cruiser. New Republic soldiers are no match for magic-wielding assassins.

When Ahsoka explains that she dreamed of war, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren is first shown. In the second season, Sabina has a cool new hairstyle.

Ahsoka and Sabine approach a large gray rock structure that appears to have symbols on it that resemble the World Between Worlds.

Perhaps the most interesting moment in the trailer is the phrase that Anakin says: “Baelan claimed to have knowledge of the force. A force capable of ending wars." Anakin is apparently talking about the gods of Mortis, powerful Force beings he encountered during the Clone Wars. In the Season 1 finale, it was confirmed that Baylan Skoll is pursuing the power that the gods of Mortis possess. This trailer hints that the gods of Mortis will play an even more important role in this season. Or maybe we'll see Abeloth...?

The show briefly features the most daring droid in the galaxy (aka Chopper). He is again voiced by Dave Filoni.

Notably, in the first season of Ahsoka, Zeb was the only missing member of the Rebel family. A new trailer confirms that (thank the Force) the galaxy's most adorable family has reunited. In the video below, Zeb tightly hugs Ezra, his little brother.

Ahsoka remembers the events of the "Wrong Jedi" arc from The Clone Wars. “I left the Jedi a long time ago,” she says.
Captain Enoch appears in the trailer where he fights Ezra Bridger using some kind of magical sword.

Below is the clearest shot of Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hachi in the new season.

Huyang also returns, now using four yellow lightsabers in his duel against Shin Hachi.

The video ends with Anakin asking Ahsoka: “Are you a Jedi or not?” Based on the trailer and Christensen's comments during the presentation, it appears that Ahsoka's main storyline in Season 2 will revolve around whether she will reclaim her Jedi title or create her own unique identity.

Ahsoka Season 2 premieres January 20 on Disney+.
