Everything Star Wars Coming to D23 in 2026
Kicking off this Friday is D23: Disney's premier fan event, which will last three days and promise to bring plenty of exciting news and activities to fans in a galaxy far, far away.
The last D23 in 2024 featured an exclusive first look at The Mandalorian and Grogu, and previous D23 events featured exclusive new footage from The Rise of Skywalker and The Mandalorian, as well as other Star Wars projects.

Of all the events planned for D23 2026, the Disney Entertainment Showcase on Friday, August 14th is definitely the highlight of the weekend.Disney has a long tradition of using this presentation to announce new projects and reveal exclusive content, making it an excellent opportunity for important announcements.
For Star Wars fans, one of the safest predictions is that D23 2026 could see the first major screening of Star Wars: Starfighter, the upcoming feature film directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Gosling. There are already precedents for D23 being used to showcase majorStar Warsprojects. At the previous show in 2024, Disney gave visitors an exclusive first look at the The Mandalorian and Groguseries, suggesting that Starfighter could get similar attention this year in the form of a trailer and some photos. Given the relatively weak box office performances of The Mandalorian and Grogu, Disney and Lucasfilm may also view D23 as an opportunity to reassure audiences that they have another major Star Wars hit waiting in the wings.
At the Disney Entertainment Showcase, fans will likely get their first look at the second season of Ahsoka, which is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ early next year. Work on the upcoming season wrapped up some time ago, and the series is currently in post-production. This means that Dave Filoni and his team may already have a trailer ready - or perhaps even a few scenes ready - to show at D23.
The future of live-action Star Wars television series remains shrouded in uncertainty, especially since the second season of Ahsoka is currently the only officially announced live-action Star Wars series in the near future.If Lucasfilm wants to share news before the next Star Wars Celebration, D23 2026 could be the perfect opportunity to reveal what's next for the franchise on Disney+ and dispel uncertainty about the future of live-action Star Wars series.
One option could include updating information on Dave Filoni's long-rumored crossover project, which is widely rumored to be a canon version of Heir to the Empire. Instead of a feature-length film, the project could potentially be reimagined as a television miniseries, giving Lucasfilm another major announcement during the presentation.
As for animation, thesecond seasonof “Maul - Lord of Shadows”is already in development. Given the widespread acclaim of the series' first season, it wouldn't be surprising if Disney and Lucasfilm decide to show fans preview clips of the upcoming episodes, which are expected to debut on Disney+ next year.
However, aside fromMaul of Shadows, the emergence ofan entirely new animated seriesStar Warsseems less likely. However, given the franchise's history of surprise announcements at major Disney events, the possibility remains and should not be completely ruled out.
