The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art presented its first exhibitions

The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, founded by George Lucas and Mellody Hobson, presented its first exhibitions, including Cinema, a selection of set designs, props and costumes from the Lucas archives, including pieces from Star Wars.

Here are all 18 inaugural exhibitions available to visit on opening day, September 22, 2026. They feature more than 1,200 individual exhibits, housed in more than 30 rooms totaling approximately 100,000 square feet:

• Architecture : Innovative designs that inspired the architectural concept of the museum
• Benton : Selected works of Thomas Hart Benton depicting American life
• Children's stories : Illustrations for children's literature Beatrix Potter, Leo Politi, E.H.Shepard, Jacob Lawrence, and others
• Cinema: A selection of set designs, props, and costumes from the Lucas archive
• Everyday Life: A series of galleries exploring visual stories about childhood, community, family, love, motherhood, play, school, sports, and work
• Civic Life: Images of the courthouse, election station, political headquarters and more
• Comics  •  Graphic stories:American and European comics, including the work of Mobius, Marie Severin, Jack Kirby, Alison Bechdel, Jim Lee, Frank Miller and Rafael Navarro
• Manga • Anime:Influential works in Japanese illustration and animations
• Frazetta: Illustrations and book covers by Frank Frazetta
• History: Paintings Prints and illustrations of major historical events
• Jesse Willcox Smith:Scenes from fairy tales and children's scenes
• Murals:Large-scale public works of narrative art Judith F. Baca, Diego Rivera, and J.R.
• Narrative Forms:Narrative art in the adventure, fantasy, romance, and science fiction genres by artists Julie Bell, Boris Vallejo, Ken Kelly, Georges Méliès, John C. Burkey, and Geoffrey Catherine Jones
• Parrish:Works by illustrator Maxfield Parrish
• Photography:Documentary images of Robert Capa, Gordon Parks, Alfred Eisenstadt, Dorothea Lange and others
• Rockwell: Works of Norman Rockwell
• Wyeth: Book illustrations of N. C. Wyeth from the 1910s to the 1940s
• Western Stories:Myths of the American West, including wagon trains, skirmishes, frontier towns and more
