Star Wars Zero Company will not have novels or a non-linear plot

Bit Reactor studio has revealed new details about Star Wars Zero Company, confirming that the game will not be a full-fledged RPG with a non-linear narrative. Instead, the developers focused on tactical gameplay inspired by the XCOM series.

During a question and answer session on Discord, the authors were asked whether players would be able to build romantic relationships with characters and influence the development of the plot. Studio representatives responded that there was no novel system or branched story in the game.

According to the developers, Star Wars Zero Company primarily remains a turn-based tactical strategy, where competent planning, selection of fighters and decision-making during battles play a key role. It was these elements that the team decided to focus on.

At the same time, history cannot be called completely static. The game will have individual story scenes that may change depending on the composition of the squad, but the overall plot will remain linear from start to finish. The ending will also be almost the same for all players.

This approach does not come as a surprise, given that Bit Reactor was founded by former XCOM developers. The studio has previously stated that it strives to create a modern cinematic tactical game in the Star Wars universe, and not just another RPG with a lot of options for the development of events.

Star Wars Zero Company will be released on August 27 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The game is being created with the support of Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games and will tell an original story set during the Clone Wars
