An updated Star Wars timeline presented in one picture
While the Marvel Cinematic Universe may seem confusing, Disney has a franchise that is much more difficult to understand.
Star Wars has been around for several decades, during which many projects have been released. Although some of them ceased to be canon after the sale of Lucasfilm, the chronology has only become more complex since then.
If you want to understand the timeline of Star Wars, fans on Reddit have made a visual. On it you can see at what point in time certain events occur. The latest version of the chronology included the animated seriesDarth Maul - Lord of Shadows.
For convenience, two versions of the chronology are presented.

What the Star Wars timeline shows

Both images show the franchise timeline, updated as of May 25, 2026. The time axis is constructed relative to the events of the filmA New Hope (0): everything that happened before is designated BBY (Before Battle of Yavin), after - ABY (After Battle of Yavin). The eras are divided into several major periods: Rise of the Republic, Age of the Republic, Age of Rebels, Age of the New Republic and Age of Resistance.
All key media projects are located on the scale. These are films (fromThe Phantom MenacetoThe Rise of Skywalker), TV series, as well as video games (Jedi: Fallen Order,Jedi: Survivor,Battlefront IIand others). The two pictures differ only in layout: in the second, the series are divided into two separate columns - animated and live-action.
In general, this is a convenient infographic that allows you to understand in what chronological order the events of all screen projects occur. It's worth noting that there areVisionsand other non-canonical releases that are not listed in the pictures.
