9 Jedi Who Survived Darth Vader

Darth Vader worked for decades to destroy all the Jedi, and only nine of them managed to survive. Order 66, by any measure, was a phenomenal success for Emperor Palpatine: nearly 10,000 Force Knights across the galaxy died in an instant.

Only the most powerful, most skilled and incredibly lucky managed to survive the wrath of Darth Sidious. Moreover, in the entireStar Wars canonwe only know of a few who managed to escape.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

The only Jedi who not only managed to avoid Darth Vader, but also defeat him - twice. Obi-Wan faced the newly converted Vader on Mustafar and won, taking the high ground. They clashed again ten years later when the Inquisitors lured Kenobi out of hiding.

The solo series shows that the Jedi Master's powers have weakened over time. He was initially defeated by Vader, but then defeated him again, restoring his connection to the Force.

The last time they faced each other was in A New Hope, when Vader finally took revenge on his former master. But it was an imaginary victory, because Obi-Wan became a Force Ghost, more powerful than the Sith.

Luke Skywalker

Technically, Vader first encountered Luke Skywalker in the Yavin system when he fired on his X-Wing. The Sith Lord briefly crossed swords with Obi-Wan's apprentice on the industrial moon Cymun 1, unaware of his identity. Luke managed to escape thanks to the intervention of Han and Leia.

Vader and Luke fought several times, but only came face to face in The Empire Strikes Back. There, Vader revealed the truth that he was Luke's father, and Luke barely survived the fight. They met for the last time in the Endor system... when events took a completely different turn.

Cere Junda

The heroine tried to save a group of younglings from the Empire, but failed and was captured.It took Darth Vader's personal intervention to break her. Cere escaped the Inquisitors by turning to the dark side of the Force and escaped, hiding her connection to the Force.

Cere encountered Vader again when she led Cal Kestis to infiltrate the Inquisitor base. She was saved when Cal flooded the corridors of the Inquisitorium Fortress. This only delayed the inevitable.

Cal Kestis

Padawan escaped Order 66 thanks to his master and became a real problem for the Empire. He dared to lead an operation to infiltrate the Inquisitorium Fortress and almost paid with his life. The hero survived only thanks to the help of Cere and a cunning flooding maneuver.

Cal's full story has not yet been told, but he was presumably targeted by Vader and the Empire. It's safe to assume that he will pay a price for opposing the Sith.

Verla

Perhaps the most unusual Jedi on this list, as she was recruited shortly after the events of Order 66. She was one of several Force-sensitives discovered by Ferren Barr. Darth Vader discovered them on Mon Cala about a year after the events ofRevenge of the Sith.

Verla hid for many years, eventually meeting Luke himself when he was studying to become a Jedi.

Reva

She was a youngling who survived Anakin's attack on the Jedi Temple by pretending to be dead. As shown in Obi-Wan Kenobi, she joined the Inquisitors to try to kill Vader. The Sith Lord allowed her to play his games.

Surprisingly, the Sith seemed to have decided to let Reva live. He wounded her with a lightsaber, but it was not fatal. It is not yet known whether they had a rematch.

Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger

Jedi Master Kanan Jarrus was a Padawan during Order 66 and, like Cal Kestis, survived largely due to the sacrifice of his master.He met Vader nearly two decades later when he and his new Padawan, Ezra, traveled to the Sith planet Malachor. Vader also visited there, pursuing Darth Maul.

The Jedi fought Vader, but were almost killed. They were saved by the fact that the villain had a more promising target: a former student.

Ahsoka Tano

Ahsoka fearlessly fought her former teacher, realizing that Darth Vader was actually Anakin. In the end, however, she was unable to resist him. The heroine dealt several strong blows, even damaging his mask, but he was able to win.

Ahsoka survived by pure chance: she was pulled out of time by Ezra Bridger, who gained access to the mysterious world known as Between Worlds. If Ezra had not intervened, she would have died at the hands of her mentor.
