Jeremy Allen White Joins 'The Mandalorian' and Grogu as Rotta, Jabba the Hutt's Son

After becoming a star thanks to his role in the TV series Bear, actor Jeremy Allen White is joining the Star Wars galaxy. At least we will hear his voice. According to Variety report, Jeremy Allen White will voice Jabba the Hutt's son, known as Rotta the Hutt, in Jon Favreau's The Mandalorian and Grogu. Hardcore Star Wars fans know that Rotta the Hutt was Jabba's infant son. He first appeared in the 2008 animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which launched the beloved series. Apparently, this is not a cameo, and Rotta the Hutt will play a significant role in the film.

With our first teaser trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu, we also get our first look at Jeremy Allen White's portrayal of Rotta the Hutt onscreen. There were rumors that Jabba the Hutt's son would be a "jock", and now we see that this is indeed the case.

In The Clone Wars, Count Dooku, Asaj Ventress and the Separatists kidnap Rotta with the help of his treacherous uncle, Ziro the Hutt. The Separatists then frame the Jedi, hoping that Jabba will turn against the Republic and join their cause. Anakin Skywalker and his new apprentice Opens in a new tab, Ahsoka Tano, eventually rescue him and clear the name of the Jedi. But Star Wars fans never found out what happened to Jabba the Hutt's little child. We'll find out all this soon.

The Mandalorian and Grogu takes place approximately three decades after the events of The Clone Wars. So little Rotta, whom Ahsoka Tano nicknamed Stinking in the film, will no longer be so small. We wouldn't be surprised if Rotta now heads his own criminal empire. He probably succeeded his late father. Although, most likely, not on Tatooine, since this is now the domain of Boba Fett.Could The Mandalorian and Grogu see Jeremy Allen White's Rotta try to infiltrate Boba Fett's criminal enterprise? And then Boba is forced to turn to his friend Mando for help? We could see it. We'll find out when The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters on May 22, 2026.
