Ahsoka Season 2 Abeloth

We rarely indulge in theories about future Star Wars projects, but there's one circulating on social media that's so wild (yet plausible) that we had to look into it.

Ahsoka Season 2 recently wrapped filming and is expected to premiere next year on Disney+. For now, only bits and pieces of the series are available to fans, and the main source of news about the new season ofStar Warshas been controversial behind-the-scenes photos of the actors. However, recent comments from Bryce Dallas Howard, who directed two of the eight episodes of the second season, coupled with the intriguing note on which the first season ended, has sparked a lot of speculation about what's to come.

The theory outlined by ScreenRant suggests that the Gods of Mortis will play a significant role in the second season. This is a reasonable assumption, considering that the first season ended with Bailan Skoll standing on top of a huge statue of the Father.

But the Father is only one of the three Gods of Mortis, the others are the Son and the Daughter. For those unfamiliar, the Gods of Mortis were introduced inThe Clone Warsas three extremely powerful figures representing three different facets of the Force: the dark side (Son), light side (Daughter), and balance (Father). It is implied that the murder of the Daughter inThe Clone Warsdisturbed the balance of the Force, which perfectly set the stage for Anakin's fall to the dark side inRevenge of the Sith

Anyway... there is a fourth figure important to the Mortis Gods lore. This figure is Abeloth, also known as the Mother or Beloved Queen of the Stars.Abeloth has not yet appeared or even been mentioned in canon, but she was the main antagonist in the nine-part series of novels "Fate of the Jedi."Abeloth is certainly one of the most unusual characters inStar Wars (just read her pageon Wookieepediato understand how crazy things happen to her). But essentially her character began as the Mother of the Son and the Father. Out of fear of death, Mother ran away from her family and bathed in the Font of Power and the Pool of Knowledge, which corrupted her and turned her into an evil being known as Abeloth. Because of her immense power, Abeloth was imprisoned to stop her from wreaking havoc on the galaxy.

A theory about the second season of Ahsoka states that Bailan Skoll is looking for Abeloth. While some theories suggest that Bailan Skoll's student Shin Hachi is actually Abeloth, an even wilder theory is thatNatalie Portman will return to play Abeloth in the second season ofAhsoka. Bryce Dallas Howard recently called the second season "romantic," a term I doubt anyone would use to describe the rather loveless first season. But "romantic" might be the perfect description if Anakin was actually tricked by Abeloth, who took the form of his true love Padmé. This theory suggests that Abeloth will play on Anakin's deepest insecurities to gain power over the Jedi-turned-Sith-turned-Force Ghost.

For now, all this remains just a theory, but it is certainly interesting to think about. Regardless of whether Portman herself returns to Star Wars (which she has already expressed interest in), it is becoming increasingly likely that Abeloth will appear in canon sooner rather than later.
