Giant LEGO STAR WARS Death Star - LEGO's first $1000 set

[Monday, September 8, 2025]

Once upon a time, rumors spread across a galaxy far, far away about the Emperor's secret project. Recently, rumors have appeared in our galaxy that LEGO is also building something grandiose. Really grandiose. Now the famous toy company has confirmed that this is true. "All of this." LEGO today announced that the Star Wars Death Star will be getting its own huge set. And this LEGO Death Star will cost a record $1,000.

LEGO Star War Death Star – Ultimate Collector Series allows you to bring home a fully armed and capable Empire battle station. The giant set measures 20.6 inches high, 18.9 inches wide, and 15.1 inches deep and contains 9,023 pieces. This makes it the largest Star Wars LEGO setOpens in a new tab and is more than twice the size of the old, discontinued LEGO Death StarOpens in a new tab. This new version also features what the company calls a "compact foundation and layered vertical structure" that "provides depth and complexity while remaining impressively on display."

LEGO Death Star from Star Wars also celebrates both the first and second versions of Palpatine's ultimate weapon, with recreated scenes and details taken from A New Hope and Return of the Jedi. There are also references to Cast Away. LEGO's new Death Star includes a trash compactor room, Emperor's throne room, Princess Leia's chamber, tractor beam control unit, Imperial shuttle hangar and more. You can finally pretend to be a smug Imperial officer ridiculing Darth Vader for his religion using little plastic bricks.

A large set also requires a large number of people to fill it, and this set is just that. The LEGO Star Wars Death Star set includes 38 minifigures. Notable characters include two versions of Luke Skywalker (both Jedi and Stormtrooper), Han Solo, Princess Leia, Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, C-3PO, R2-D2, Chewbacca, Orson Krennic and others. And yes, that stormtrooper in the hot tub is an Easter egg from the LEGO Star Wars video games.

The LEGO Star War Death Star set will be available to LEGO Insiders members online and in stores on October 1st. Everyone else will be able to purchase it on October 4th. At $999.99, it's the most expensive LEGO set ever. But those who buy it between October 1 and October 7 will receive a bonus. While supplies last, they will also receive a free LEGO Star Wars TIE Fighter set with Imperial Hangar Rack.

This means that this set will set two records. Yes, it will be the most expensive LEGO set ever. But it would also mark the first time the Death Star dispatched TIE fighters in a timely manner. This may be even more impressive than the price of this collection.
