“Andor” received 5 Emmy awards, including Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series

At the end of the second night of the Emmy Awards, the hit series Star Wars: Andor has won an incredible five awards.

At today's ceremony, the series was nominated for three awards: Best Drama Series, Best Writing for a Drama Series and Best Directing for a Drama Series. Dan Gilroy won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for his work on the acclaimed episode "Welcome to the Rebellion." Yes, that means Mon Mothma's speech to the Senate is now an Emmy Award-winning speech.

In his acceptance speech, Dan Gilroy said, "We have friends everywhere," referring to a phrase repeated by Luten Rael's followers in the series. Gilroy also made sure to thank Star Wars fans in his speech. “I want to thank the fans who didn’t just watch the show,” Gilroy said. - They listened. They cared. And they made possible a story about ordinary people struggling against impossible odds."

To the disappointment of the Andora team, the award for Best Drama Series went to Pitt, and the award for Best Directing for a Drama Series went to Slow Horses.

But make no mistake. This is a huge achievement. Gilroy's award made Andor the first Star Wars series to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing. This also means Andor ends TV awards season with 5 wins from 14 nominations.This result at the Emmy is unprecedented for a series that is part of such a large franchise as Star Wars.
