In what order should I watch all Star Wars TV series and films?

A comprehensive guide for young Padawans who just want to understand this far, far away universe and find out who is whose father.

Do you want to understand what's what in Star Wars, but don't know which way to approach this huge franchise? There is a way out! In this material, we have built the main chronology of Star Wars (SW), including not only nine full-length films, but also a large number of TV series and animated series.

A boring but important introduction

But first, let’s be a little “cushioned.” The first film, A New Hope, was released in 1977 under the strict direction of George Lucas. A little later, he released two more films, and then took a break for 20 years to make three more prequels.

In 2012, the ubiquitous Disney company bought Lucasflim and the rights to Star Wars, beginning to rapidly reshape the universe. She canceled the old canon, which by this year included many books, comics, video games and more. After that, she began making new films and TV series of varying degrees of success, and, judging by the announcements, she is not going to stop!

In order not to confuse anyone, we mention, firstly, only released projects, and secondly, only those that are included in the new canon.

P.S. A little about chronology. The starting point is considered to be the Battle of Yavin (in the film "Star Wars: Episode 4 - A New Hope"), when the rebels destroyed the Death Star (sorry for the spoiler). Therefore, all events before it are indicated as BBY, and after - ABY.

Chronological date: 148–132 BBY

Former Padawan Osha returns to his mentor, Jedi Master Saul, when a series of mysterious Jedi murders begin to occur within the Order. Suddenly the girl herself becomes the main suspect.

2.Film "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" (Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace), 1999

Jedi Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi are sent to defend the planet Naboo. On the way, they meet the boy Anakin Skywalker, in whom Qui-Gon sees the Chosen One, capable of changing the fate of the Galaxy.

3. Film "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones" (Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones), 2002

Chronological date: 22 BBY

The galaxy is torn apart by growing political contradictions, and the Republic is preparing for war. Jedi Anakin Skywalker becomes increasingly emotional, falling in love with Padmé Amidala and facing his own inner demons. Against the backdrop of these events, an army of clones is created, which becomes the beginning of a large-scale conflict and brings the fall of the Republic closer.

4. Star Wars: The Clone Wars series, 2008–2020

Chronological date: 22–19 BBY

Shows events between the second and third episodes of the saga, when the Republic wages war against the Separatists. Jedi, clones and allies fight on different planets, and the story centers on the rise of Anakin Skywalker and his student Ahsoka Tano, as well as the secret intrigues of the Sith.

5. Film "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith", 2005

The Clone War is coming to an end, but behind the victories lies betrayal.Anakin Skywalker, torn between his duty as a Jedi and the fear of losing his loved ones, succumbs to the influence of a dark force.

6. Star Wars: The Bad Batch TV series, 2021–2024

Chronological date: 19–18 BBY

The series centers on a group of elite clones with unique abilities who disobey Order 66 and become outcasts in the new Galactic Empire. Together with the cloned girl Omega, they travel to different planets, trying to survive, find their place and resist the Empire.

7. The film “Solo: A Star Wars. Stories" (Solo: A Star Wars Story), 2018

A film about the early years of the future smuggler Han Solo. He goes from street hustler to pilot of the Millennium Falcon, meets Chewbacca and meets Lando Calrissian.

8. TV series "Obi-Wan Kenobi", 2022

The time after the fall of the Republic, when the Jedi were almost completely destroyed. Obi-Wan hides out on Tatooine, keeping an eye on young Luke Skywalker, but is forced to leave his hideout to rescue the kidnapped Leia Organa. Imperial inquisitors and Darth Vader himself stand in his way.

9. Star Wars Rebels series, 2014–2018

The series takes place between the third and fourth episodes of the saga.A ragtag group of heroes aboard the Ghost ship unite to confront the growing power of the Galactic Empire.

10. TV series "Andor", 2022–2025

The series tells about the formation of Cassian Andor, the hero of the future mission to obtain the plans for the Death Star. The plot shows his journey - from a cynical loner to a determined resistance fighter, ready to sacrifice everything for the sake of freedom.

11. The film "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" Stories" (Rogue One), 2016

A group of rebels gather on a desperate mission to obtain the plans for the Empire's superweapon, the Death Star. At the center of events is Jyn Erso, the daughter of a scientist who participated in the creation of the station, who knows about its vulnerability.

The Rebels are defeated after the Empire attacks the ice planet Hoth.Luke Skywalker goes to Master Yoda to learn the Force, while Han Solo and Princess Leia try to escape Darth Vader.

14. Film "Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi", 1983

Luke Skywalker and his friends are sent to rescue Han Solo from the clutches of Jabba the Hutt and soon enter a decisive battle against the Empire. The Rebels plan to destroy the second Death Star, and Luke comes face to face with Darth Vader and the Emperor.

15. The Mandalorian series, 2019

The series follows a mercenary bounty hunter from the mysterious Mandalorian order, who works on the outskirts of the Galaxy after the fall of the Empire. Having received the task of tracking down and delivering a strange creature, he unexpectedly decides to protect it and becomes a fugitive. Together they set off on a dangerous journey.

16. The Book of Boba Fett series, 2021

The legendary bounty hunter survives his fall into the jaws of the Sarlacc and returns to the world of criminal warfare. Together with the mercenary Fennec Shand, he strives to take the place of Jabba the Hutt and become the new master of Tatooine.

18. Star Wars: Skeleton Crew TV series, 2024-2025

A group of children accidentally discover an abandoned spaceship, which suddenly takes them on an unexpected adventure. Together with a mysterious adult mentor, they must find their way home, facing the dangers and wonders of unknown worlds.

19. Star Wars Resistance series, 2018–2020

Young pilot Kazuda Ziono is sent to spy on the growing threat of the First Order. Disguised as a mechanic on the Colossus platform, he is drawn into the first encounters with a new tyranny.
