Filming has begun on the new Star Wars with Ryan Gosling

Filming on the newest film in the Star Wars saga, Star Wars: Starfighter, began on Thursday in the UK, and Lucasfilm (now a division of Walt Disney Studios) celebrated the occasion by unveiling the full cast and showing the first image from the upcoming film.

Flynn Gray, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings and Amy Adams have joined Ryan Gosling in the title role. Mia Goth and Matt Smith will play the villains.

The film is directed by Shawn Levy.

Starfighter takes place approximately five years after the events of the 2019 film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Sunrise". Starfighter is a standalone film with no connection to the previous Star Wars films or the characters in the so-called Skywalker Saga, the films that follow Luke Skywalker and his father Anakin.

The premiere is scheduled for May 28, 2027.
