Fortnite and Star Wars collide like never before in the new season of Galactic Battle

The fate of the galaxy is in your hands in the new Fortnite Battle Royale event, starting on May 2, just in time for Star Wars Day.

Almost anything is possible in Fortnite, so it's no surprise that Jar Jar Binks looks a little different in the newly revealed Fortnite trailer, which just debuted at the Star WarsCelebration Japan.

That's right. Longtime fan favorite Darth Jar Jar will soon appear in the world of Fortnite, and Sith lightning will crackle from his long Gungan fingers.

Just on stage at Star Wars Celebration LIVE! It was announced that Fortnite: Galactic Battle is a brand new collaboration between Star Wars and Fortnite, scheduled for release on May 2, 2025.

Ahmed Best, known for his role as Jar Jar Binks in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and Jedi Master Kelleran Beck in The Mandaloriantook to the stage to help announce the new collaboration and unveil a brand new trailer full of some big reveals like Darth Jar Jar and the new in-game Force ability, Force Lightning.

Best is a gaming fan, particularly Fortnite, which he enjoys playing with his son.Best shared his excitement to see a beloved Star Wars character like Darth Jar Jar come to life in gaming for the first time and directly into the hands of players and fans.

Galaxy Assault, Fortnite's new battle royale season, launches on May 2 and is a five-part saga that will introduce players to new Star Wars gameplay every week until early June.

Players can expect many surprises from each era of Star Wars, including:

  • A Star Wars themed Battle Pass featuring iconic characters like Emperor Palpatine and characters like the Wookiee Cuddle Team Leader featured at the Star WarsCelebration Japan
  • All-new Item Shop offerings, including Mace Windu
  • Ability to pilot and co-pilot X-wing and TIE fighters.

The five-part saga will lead to an in-game narrative event that is sure to make players feel like the fate of an entire galaxy is in their hands.

To conclude the announcement on stage, Celebration LIVE! A group of Wookiee Team Leader cosplayers, who could also be seen roaming the convention floor later in the day, joined Best on stage to celebrate the moment.
