Production on Star Wars Starfighter, directed by Shawn Levy, will begin this fall.
The title of the next Star Wars movie to go into production was announced on the first day of the Star Wars Celebration Japan, which included a surprise appearance from star Ryan Gosling and the director. This is Star Wars: Starfighter!

Levi, who recently directed and produced the Marvel hit Deadpool and Wolverine, made a surprise appearance at today's The Mandalorian and Grogu' panel, joining Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni on stage to confirm his project for a live audience at the Star Wars Celebration Japan.

One of several Lucasfilm theatrical projects still in development, including films by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, Taika Waititi and Simon Kinberg's new trilogy, Levy's "Star Wars: Starfighter" is starring Gosling and will begin filming this fall.
The events of Star Wars: Starfighter take place approximately five years after the film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Sunrise.Gosling will play a completely new character, whose appearance on stage was a surprise for the actor.
Star Wars: Starfighterwill be released in theaters on Memorial Day 2027.
