Five discoveries from the new Star Wars galaxy map

The official Star Wars website recently released a restored interactive map of the Star Wars galaxy full of hidden details. Here are five things we learned from analyzing the new map...
Rakata and Dawn of the Jedi

The galaxy map shows Rakata Prime, the Rakata homeworld, in square G11. In Legends, the Rakata were a destructive alien race created using hyperdrive technology. The Rakata used their technological advances to conquer species throughout the galaxy.
Why is the inclusion of Rakata Prime on the galaxy map important? Well, the second season ofAndorrecently confirmed that the Rakata conquered the galaxy 25,000 years before the events of the series. This date coincides with the beginning of the Jedi Order, which will be featured in James Mangold's filmDawn of the Jedi. One of Andor's writers, Beau Willimon, is co-writing Dawn of the Jedi with Mangold, further suggesting that the Rakata may play a role in future canon stories.
Rakata Prime's location on the map is also intriguing. The planet is located near Ahch-To, where the very first Jedi Temple was located, and will likely be featured in the filmDawn of the Jedi. We might see Rakatan on the big screen sooner than we think...
The Bad Batch's search for Omega becomes even more heartbreaking

As the amazing Molly Brizzell pointed out, the galaxy map shows how close Clone Squad 99 was to Omega when they searched across the galaxy for her in Season 3.
Pabu, the Bad Batch's settlement, is located in grid L3. Wayland, where Omega is being held captive, is located in grid N7.Their closeness suggests that the Bad Batch traveled across the galaxy in search of their beloved sister, who was unknowingly so close to home.
The proximity of Exegol and Thrawn

A map of the galaxy shows that Xilla, the homeworld of Thrawn and the Chiss people, is located near Exegol, the secret Sith world home to Palpatine inThe Rise of Skywalker. Sunrise."
It is interesting to speculate whether the Chiss ever went to Exegol...
How close is theSkeleton Crew to Maul?!

As noted by Twitter user/X Tangible Pepper, Attin, the secret home of the main characters of the Skeleton Crew, is located right next to Dathomir, the home of Darth Maul and Asajj Ventress.
Given the obvious differences between the planets (one is a suburban paradise, the other is an absolute hell), it is especially surprising to see how close At-Attin and Dathomir are to each other.
Ahsoka's first season ends with Thrawn heading to Dathomir. With Attin so close, does that mean we might see some of theSkeleton Crew return in Season 2?
Sith rule was widespread

Acolyte: Visual Guide recently called the Sith "conquerors" of the galaxy, something a new map helps visualize. The Sith world of Moraband (aka Korriban) is located in the R5 grid. Meanwhile, the Amaxin space station is located in the J19 grid. For those unfamiliar with the High Republic publication initiative, the Sith once sealed away the deadly Drengir species on the Amaxin space station.
Taken together, this information demonstrates just how extensive the Sith's capabilities were throughout the galaxy.
