Revealing new details from the life of Darth Vader
The Star Wars prequel trilogy featured much of Anakin Skywalker's life. The Chosen One is left in a broken state, and it's not entirely clear how he became so loyal to Emperor Palpatine by the time of the original trilogy. Fortunately, these gaps can be filled with the help of literature.
The most details about the Sith Lord were revealed by the above-mentioned comic book series from Marvel. It began airing in 2017, showing events immediately after the finale ofRevenge of the Sith. The comics depict several key events related to Vader.
Judging by the synopsis, it appears that the new novel will depict the same period of character transformation, but from a slightly different perspective. Canonical events remain the same.
On the volcanic planet Mustafar, Vader performs a dark ritual, draining the blood from a kyber crystal to forge a lightsaber. This act releases a power far greater than he expected, giving him a glimpse into the limitless potential of the Force."
Bleeding the kyber crystal is a rite of passage for the Sith, but until now Vader's performance of this ritual has only been shown in the comics. We saw this on screen in the video gameStar Wars Jedi: Survivorand the TV seriesThe Acolyte.
