Star Wars fans are looking forward to a Metroidvania and space zoo
After EA lost exclusive rights to Star Wars games, the industry received new opportunities. Among the major projects, only Star Wars Outlaws from Ubisoft stands out so far, but the release of Zero Company, Eclipse from Quantic Dream and a remake of Knights of the Old Republic are expected.
Fans think this is not enough. On Reddit there is active discussion of new genres for the franchise. The most popular offering was a 2D metroidvania inspired by the success of Prince of Persia. Star Wars Zoo Tycoon was also an interesting idea, with management of a zoo of creatures from the galaxy and the opportunity to participate in galactic conflicts.
RTS fans remembered the success of Halo Wars and offered a full-fledged real-time strategy. The popularity of The Mandalorian has sparked desire for a Red Dead Redemption-style game about bounty hunters, although Respawn Entertainment's attempts to create such projects have failed.
The idea of a game in the spirit of Anno was also expressed, where you can build and develop a colony on a planet in the Star Wars setting. A traditional city-building simulator like Cities: Skylines can also be interesting, although it is unlikely to attract a large audience.
