Updated status of Star Wars Jedi 3 after the cancellation of the new Titanfall

Electronic Arts has undergone massive layoffs that have affected the Respawn Entertainment studio. However, this did not affect the third part of Star Wars Jedi.

Since Disney got Star Wars, there haven't been many big games in the franchise. After the controversial relaunch of Star Wars Battlefront, the successful Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was released. Interestingly, it was developed by the authors of Titanfall, switching from shooters to action games.

The sequel, released a few years later, also became successful, so the finale of the Cal Kestis story was soon put into development. At the moment, the project does not have an official name, but the developers are actively working on it. Unfortunately, Respawn faced massive layoffs and was forced to cancel two games that were in the early stages of development. The only positive thing was that the next game, Star Wars Jedi, was not affected.

The studio has confirmed that development onStar Wars Jedi 3is continuing, with the game aiming to "raise the bar on storytelling and gameplay once again." Only three years have passed between the first two games, so the third part could be released in the fall of 2026. The Star Wars Zero Companystrategy is planned for the spring.

What did Respawn cancel?

This week it became known that Electronic Arts fired a total of about 300-400 people. As reported by reporter Bloomberg Jason Schreier, this led to the cancellation of the game by universeTitanfall.

The canceled project, codenamed R7, was an extraction shooter in the spirit of Escape from Tarkov. The action took place in the same world withApex Legendsand the duologyTitanfall. Development was at an early stage.

Another game from Respawn, which was conceptualized and prototyped by a small team, was canceled earlier this year. There are no specific details about her.
