The latest information about the film "The Mandalorian and Grogu" has opened up new possibilities for new LEGO Star Wars sets.

Among the Disney theme parks news at SXSW this weekend, the Star Wars-centric update on the Disney Parks Blog contains a small but a remarkable opening for The Mandalorian and Grogu. With the film's release almost a year away, it was announced that BDX droids (inspired by the BD series of droids featured in The Mandalorian and the Star Wars Jedi games) will appear in the film after being tested in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.

New details have emerged about the canceled Star Wars: Underworld series from George Lucas

Thanks to producer Rick McCallum, previously undisclosed details have emerged about the canceled Star Wars: Underworld series, which was the brainchild of franchise creator George Lucas.

  • The scripts for 60 episodes were almost completed, and the idea was to film 100 episodes.
  • Budget - $40 million per episode, i.e. total investment - $4 billion
  • The soundtrack was supposed to be composed by John Williams.
  • The project was closed precisely because of the high cost.

“The episodes were dark, sensual, violent... they were literally great. Magnificent, complex... challenging. I mean, it would have blown up the entire Star Wars universe... And Disney would definitely never have offered to buy it. And this is one of the biggest disappointments in our lives,” he said in an interview with The Young Indy Chronicles podcast.

An interesting detail is that Star Wars: Underworld somehow echoes Star Wars 1313. The game, which was developed by LucasArts, was supposed to explore similar themes. In it, Boba Fett traveled through the criminal depths of Level 1313 on Coruscant. Unfortunately, Star Wars 1313 has also been cancelled.

Enthusiasts from the modding community continue to actively work on turning the Starfield game into a full-fledged Star Wars project. One of the key areas of this effort is a mod called Star Wars: Genesis, which has recently undergone significant expansion.

Recall that Starfield, being a new large-scale role-playing game from Bethesda, has not been able to fully win the recognition of fans since its release in 2022. Many players believe that its gaming potential is much more realized as the basis for creating a Star Wars project.

Ubisoft's failed Star Wars Outlaws set a new simultaneous online record

Ubisoft's failed Star Wars Outlaws set a new simultaneous online record

There were 3397 players in the game.

Ubisoft managed to revive interest in Star Wars Outlaws, despite the not-so-successful start.

The game was released on PC on Steam last year, but was not a major hit. However, recently online suddenly began to grow. The main reason is a large-scale sale, in which all four editions of the game received a 50% discount.

According to SteamDB, on Sunday, March 2, the peak online reached 3,397 players, which significantly exceeded the previous record of 2,400 users. Although these are still modest numbers for a project of this scale, they are still better than at the release of the game in the Valve store, when online could not break the 2 thousand mark.

We previously told you that players who pre-ordered Assassin's Creed Shadows received discs with the game a month before release. Let us remind you that the official release is scheduled for March 20.

Ubisoft acknowledged the leak and asked players who have already gotten their hands on the new “Assassins” to refrain from spoilers so as not to spoil the experience for others. The company also noted that this is still not the final form of the project, and polishing and optimization of the game continues.

The remake of Star Wars: KOTOR was canceled and some of its creators were fired

Many fans of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic have long been waiting for at least some news about the remake of the cult role-playing game. The project was announced back in September 2021, but since then there have been only rumors about its fate. Now, it seems that players are waiting not for the long-awaited release, but for unpleasant news. At least that's what Alex Smith, former head of Bend Studio and one of the authors of Siphon Filter, says.

On his X (Twitter) page, Smith stated that development of KOTOR Remake has been canceled and some Saber Interactive employees working on the project have either been reassigned or fired. If this information is confirmed, it will be the final blow to fans' hopes of seeing a remake of the cult RPG.

Although last time the creators reported that development of the remake continues:

It is worth noting that Smith has already shared truthful insights. It was he who announced in advance the announcement of a new game from Housemarque, which actually took place. However, his predictions regarding the release dates of Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Yotei did not come true then, so his statements should be treated with caution.

Official representatives of Saber Interactive and Aspyr have not yet commented on the information about the cancellation of Star Wars: KOTOR Remake.

Quantic Dream is deeply concerned about everyone who may lose their jobs.

NetEase-owned studio Quantic Dream, developers of Heavy Rain, Detroit and the upcoming Star Wars Eclipse, commented on the situation with the reduction in funding for Western teams.

In a statement posted on LinkedIn, Quantic Dream CEO Guillaume de Fondaumiere said the studio's teams were not affected by NetEase's drastic layoffs and are“continuing to develop our projects at a normal pace.”.

“We were deeply saddened to learn of the recent layoffs and studio closures affecting certain parts of the NetEase group. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this, and we sincerely hope they quickly find new opportunities,” de Fondaumière wrote.

Quantic Dream noted that 2024 was a particularly successful year for the studio, mainly due to good sales of older games like Detroit: Become Human, which reached 11 million units in total.

Star Wars Eclipse does not yet have even an approximate release date.
