Fortnite is turning into a Star Wars gaming platform

Fortnite isn't just bringing back a Star Wars skin. This will be a cool version of our history of a galaxy far, far away. Boring version. The “yes, Darth Vader is back in the item shop, please act surprised” version.

The big news is that Epic and Lucasfilm are turning Fortnite into a platform where new Star Wars games can exist - and the latest official Fortnite update makes that clear. A new post from Epic titled "A Galaxy of New Star Wars Games Coming to Fortnite describes a wave of projects in the universe "Star Wars" created inside Fortnite and sold through UEFN and Creative.

This is not one crossover mode.

Star Wars is becoming a toolkit for creating games.

Disney and Lucasfilm management announced a meeting dedicated to the future of films and TV series in the Star Wars universe.

For the first time, apparently, after large-scale changes in management both Disney and Lucasfilm, the new heads of the parent company and its subsidiary reported a meeting on the future of the Star Wars franchise in cinema.

Fans argue over Star Wars Jedi 3's open world

The Star Wars Jedi games are arguably some of the best original entries in the franchise in years. The story of Cal Kestis continues to captivate longtime fans and newcomers alike.

If you haven't played it yet, Jedi: Survivor is not a full open world game, but rather a semi-open or linear adventure. The emphasis is on storytelling rather than location exploration. While this works well, there is ongoing debate about whether the next installment should be a true open world.

Star Wars: Battle for Naboo (2000): The game that seamlessly bridged two eras

Some Star Wars games hit the market with huge excitement. Great legacy. Great nostalgia. Big controversy.

And then there are games like Star Wars: Battle for Naboo, which basically showed up, did a lot of things well, and yet somehow ended up overshadowed by the more high-profile projects around them.

It's a little unfair because there's a lot more to this game than people usually remember.

Monopoly: Star Wars: Heroes vs. Villains. Looks much less boring than it should be

There is hardly a more dangerous phrase than “Monopoly video game based on Star Wars.”

This could mean a lazy redesign of the look. This could mean Darth Vader collecting rent on Cloud City while everyone slowly remembers why family board game night is actually a Sith ritual.

But a new trailer with an overview of the gameplay of Monopoly: Star Wars Heroes vs. Villains makes the game much more interesting than expected. The latest video from Ubisoft shows a team-based version of Monopoly with characters, where locations can be fought over, abilities matter, and the playing field is a tiny plastic galaxy ready to cause controversy.

According to the official description of the gameplay trailer from Ubisoft, the game will be released on June 11 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, GeForce NOW and PC via Ubisoft Store, Steam and Epic Games Store.
